What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept all insurance plans, like:

  • Private and Employee Group Plans:

    including, but not limited to Great-West Life, Alberta Blue Cross, Manulife, Green Shield and Sun Life dental insurances.

  • Government and Provincial Dental Coverage:

    including ADSC (Alberta Government dental programs), Child Health Benefits, NIHB (First Nations Dental Coverage) and Alberta Seniors Benefit.

  • DentalCard:

How much will the insurance pay?

We currently accept all private care insurance plans as well as Indian Affairs and Alberta Dental Service Corporation (Social Services and AISH) (plans that do not require you to select a dentist from a list).

This means that we work with literally thousands of companies.

Although we can maintain computerized histories of payment by a given company, the benefits do change; sometimes it’s impossible to give you a guaranteed quote at the time of service.

We estimate your portion based on the most up-to-date information we have, but it is ONLY AN ESTIMATE.

If you would like to know your exact insurance benefit, we will be happy to file a “pretreatment estimation” with your insurance company prior to treatment.

This does delay treatment, but will give you the exact out-of-pocket figures you may require.

I thought I paid my portion but I got a bill, Why?

We base the patient portion of your bill on our most current data, but there are many factors that can affect this estimate.

There may be a deductible (individual or family) or you may have received treatment in another office prior to joining the Eastport Dental Family which is not calculated into our database.

Sometimes you may need to see a specialist for care, which also uses your annual benefit.

Insurance companies do not (and cannot in most cases) notify us of changes to your benefits, THEY ONLY NOTIFY YOU.

If these situations apply to you, please let us know when we estimate your treatment plans so we may adjust accordingly.

Insurance didn’t pay for my treatment, now what?

We bill your insurance as a courtesy. If insurance does not pay within 60 days, Eastport Dental Centre reserves the right to request payment in full for services from you and let you collect the insurance funds that are due to you.

This is rare, but it is important that you recognize that the insurance you have is a legal contract between YOU and YOUR insurance company.

Our office is not, and cannot be a part of the legal contract.

Ultimately, you are responsible for all charges incurred in our office.

What are my Financial Payment Options?

Eastport Dental Centre does request payment in full for your portion at the time of service. We accept MasterCard, Visa and Interac (Debit).

After we have a treatment plan in place we can do as much as you want at one time from the treatment plan so you can budget for each appointment accordingly.

If you want to finish everything from the treatment plan and you want to make payments we can give you an estimate which you can take to your bank.

Your bank may give you a loan and decide with you the payments you will make to pay it back.

My family is in financial need. What can you do to help us?

Since every family’s (and individual) situation is unique, we feel that it is best to contact us directly and inform us of your concerns.

We will do our best to help out and are always willing to accept pre payments that will help you build up a credit so you can get work done in a timely manner without incurring any additional charges.
