Eastport Dental Centre prides itself that it has been in practice now for over 30 years at the same location.
Our greatest satisfaction comes from the fact that many of our existing clients started out with as us as children (and as they have grown up it still pleases us that even after moving to all 4 corners of the city and surrounding areas) that they still prefer to make the trip to our Memorial & 52 St. N.E. location to visit us and to let us take care of their dental needs! In fact many of these same patients are now bringing their own children to us. We are proud of our sterilization and infection control procedures and we take them very seriously. At Eastport Dental your health and safety are important to us.
Many of our patients ask us questions about our sterilization procedures. Considering the ever-increasing number of contagious diseases in the news today, this is an understandable concern. You can rest assured that your health and safety are one of our primary concerns. The guidelines for sterilization and infection control in dentistry are called "Universal Precautions". The staff at Eastport Dental Centre is pleased that you have insurance benefits to help with the cost of your dental care. Payment is expected at the day of service. We offer several payment options for your convenience:
We file most insurance claims for you and reimbursement will be assigned to the office. Please bring your insurance information with you. We will work with you to ensure that you receive the maximum benefits to which you are entitled. Remember, dental insurance is intended to cover some, but not all of the cost of your dental care, reimbursement amounts are not, and never have been, a guideline for quality care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q) Do you accept my Insurance? How much will they pay?
A) We currently accept all private care insurance plans as well as Indian Affairs and Alberta Dental Service Corporation (Social Services and AISH) (plans that do not require you to select a dentist from a list or require our office to accept a reduced fee for services). This means that we work with literally thousands of companies. Although we can maintain computerized histories of payment by a given company, the benefits do change; therefore it is impossible to give you a guaranteed quote at the time of service. We estimate your portion based on the most up-to-date information we have, but it is ONLY AN ESTIMATE. If you would like to know your exact insurance benefit, we will be happy to file a "pre-treatment estimation" with your insurance company prior to treatment. This does delay treatment but will give you the exact out of pocket figures you may require.
Q) I thought I paid my portion but I got a bill, Why?
A) We base the patient portion of your bill on our most current data but there are many factors that can affect this estimate. There may be a deductible (individual or family) or you may have received treatment in another office prior to joining the Eastport Dental Family which is not calculated into our database. Sometimes you may need to see a specialist for care, which also uses your annual benefit. Insurance companies do not (and cannot in most cases) notify us of changes to your benefits, THEY ONLY NOTIFY YOU. If these situations apply to you, please let us know when we estimate your treatment plans so we may adjust accordingly.
Q) Insurance didn't pay for my treatment, now what?
A) We bill your insurance as a courtesy. If insurance does not pay within 60 days, Eastport Dental Centre reserves the right to request payment in full for services from you and let you collect the insurance funds that are due to you. This is rare, but it is important that you recognize that the insurance you have is a legal contract between YOU and YOUR insurance company. Our office is not, and cannot be a part of the legal contract, ultimately, you are responsible for all charges incurred in our office.
Q) What are my Financial Payment Options?
A) Eastport Dental Centre does request payment in full for your portion at the time of service. We accept MasterCard, Visa and Interac (Debit).
Q) My family is in financial need. What can you do to help us?
A) Since every families (and individual) situation is unique, we feel that it is best to contact us directly and inform us of your concerns. We will do our best to help out and are always willing to accept pre payments that will help you build up a credit so you can get work done in a timely manner without incurring any additional charges.
We, at Eastport Dental believe that clarity is the key to a good and respectful relationship. In an effort to ensure your appointments are as pleasant and predictable as possible, we would like to give you an overview of our office policies. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have.
Due to the Canadian Personal Privacy Act, we are unable to access any sufficient information from your insurance company regarding your dental plan. It is your responsibility to know the details involved in your plan such as annual maximums, frequencies, and any other limitations. We extend the courtesy to bill your insurance directly, however, to avoid any patient portion discrepancies please be fully aware of the particulars of your plan so you can utilize your benefits to the maximum. The patient portion what is not covered by your insurance is expected to be paid on the day of service.
Please understand that it is your responsibility to keep track of your appointments and we do everything we can to remind you of them in adequate time for you to make arrangements or changes for that appointment. And as a courtesy, we call you a week before your appointment to remind and confirm your appointment. Unfortunately, that is all we are able to do in order to remind you of upcoming appointments, after that it is up to you to remember.
Due to a continuous high demand in prime appointment times, we require a minimum of 48 hours notice per appointment should you require to reschedule your appointment. This is valuable time that the Doctor has reserved for you. In the case that insufficient notice is given a $50.00 fee per hour of appointment will be charged to you.
